Built to a heavy-duty standard, the Argon Audio TT-4 MK2 is a premium turntable with sound quality that impresses across the board. Using an upgraded plinth and platter, bass is deeper and more sustained, while the high quality tonearm and uprated cartridge ensure precision sound throughout the frequency response. Available in a choice of finishes, including real wood veneers, the TT-4 MK2 has the style to match its sound.
Heavy duty unit for enhanced sound
Argon Audio’s top turntable uses a more substantial plinth and platter for enhanced sound – especially at lower frequencies. The thicker plinth and heavyweight platter add mass, which helps to produce bass that’s both deeper and more sustained. The sound is more dynamic than the smaller models in Argon Audio’s range, meaning that you hear a broader scale of sound for a more lifelike balance.
Improved damping for reduced distortion
As well as a thicker plinth, the TT-4 MK2 also features upgraded isolation feet. These help the turntable resist vibrations, reducing distortion for a purer sound. Further damping is also added to the aluminium platter. This prevents the platter from ‘ringing,’ meaning you get a more natural and less metallic sound.
Carbon fibre hybrid tonearm with ATS
For precision tracking, the TT-4 MK2 is fitted with a carbon fibre hybrid tonearm. This uses a carbon fibre arm tube with ATS (Anisotropic Torsion Stabilizer ) and an aluminium headshell. Being stiffer than steel, the tonearm is more rigid, meaning that it conveys the music more accurately, as there's reduced arm resonance. Simply put, the music sounds tighter, punchier and more detailed than before. For easy cartridge swaps, the aluminium headshell is detachable.
Upgraded Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge included
Making sure that the turntable and tonearm are matched by a cartridge that does them justice, the TT-4 MK2 comes fitted with a top quality Ortofon 2M Blue. Usually priced at around £189 on its own, this premium quality MM cartridge ensures a very high standard of connection with your records. Featuring a Nude Elliptical stylus, the 2M Blue creates a wider contact with the groove than the previous 2M Red model. It’s this increased contact that gives the 2M Blue a more dynamic sound with deeper bass and brighter treble
Built-in phono pre-amp for flexible connectivity
For near universal connectivity, the TT-4 MK2 features a switchable phono pre-amp. This means you can wire the deck up to any hi-fi or speaker system with an ‘AUX’ input, with no extra devices required (RCA cable supplied but your system may require an RCA to 3.5mm adapter). If you have a dedicated phono pre-amp, or a high quality one fitted to your existing amp, you can simply switch off the one in the turntable.
Choice of premium finishes
Available in four different finishes, the TT-4 MK2 suits a wide range of tastes. For the best match with most hi-fi separates, choose the classic matte black design. Matte white looks great against lighter decors or, if you prefer a warmer aesthetic, go for the walnut or mahogany real wood veneers.
