Using silver-plated cores, the AudioQuest Greyhound Subwoofer cable takes the bass quality to the next level.
Unique grounding cable
In most cases this won't be needed but if you suffer excessive hum from your subwoofer, then the Greyhound should be able to help. By connecting the ground cable to the metal chassis of your sub and the ground on your amp, earth hum problems should be solved.
Silver-plated, solid-core conductors for low distortion
Solid conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion and reduce jitter. Solid silver-plated conductors are excellent for very high-frequency applications. These signals, being such a high frequency, travel almost exclusively on the surface of the conductor. As the surface is made of high-purity silver, the performance is very close to that of a solid silver cable, but priced much closer to solid copper cable. This is an incredibly cost effective way of manufacturing very high-quality subwoofer cables.
Foamed-Polyethylene insulation
Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Greyhound uses air-filled Foamed-Polyethylene Insulation on both conductors because air absorbs next to no energy and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. Thanks to all the air in Foamed-PE, it causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials.
Cold-welded, gold-plated plugs
By using a high pressure weld rather than solder, there's less chance of a faulty connection between cable and plug. Not only does this lead to a more reliable connection in the long term but it also ensures low resistance and, hence, low distortion connection for the entire life of the cable.
