Signature performance
Chord Company’s original Signature cable offered a massive leap forwards and still offers impressive sound today. Using thick, Oxygen-Copper-Free conductors, with gas foamed insulation and triple layer shielding, the Signature is a technical tour de force that delivers superb clarity, right across the frequency range.
XL for enhanced performance
Replacing the PTFE insulation with high performance XLPE (Cross Linked Polyethylene) improves the performance of the already impressive Signature cable. XLPE outperformed PTFE in listening tests, making it demonstrable better. Superior insulation reduces interference, giving a smoother, more natural sound with enhanced detail.
The shielding difference
Fitted with three layers of shielding, the SignatureXL is superbly engineered to resist interference. The reduction in background noise means that very fine tonal information is easily heard. This brings improvements not only to the high frequency performance of a system, but also the bass and mid frequencies.
Top quality Ohmic plugs as standard
Rediscovering Ohm’s law meant Chord switched from gold plating their speaker plugs to silver plate. Silver outperforms gold in terms of conductivity, meaning lower resistance and, hence, less signal loss. By happy coincidence, many of the Chord Company speaker cables also use silver-plating, thereby keeping the material consistent throughout the amp to speaker link.
