The heart of your Cyrus XR system
Designed to be paired with the X Power, Stereo 200 or Mono X 300 Signature power amplifiers, the Cyrus Pre-XR plays a vital role in getting the very best from your Cyrus system. Because the pre-amplifier section has a dedicated power supply and sits in its own casing, the sound quality is much improved over the integrated Cyrus amps. All the digital and analogue connectivity that makes these amps so popular is still present and correct, making the Pre-XR every bit as system friendly.
XR Series - Ground-up redesign
Nearly every aspect about the Cyrus XR Series is new. From the all-new pre-amplifier design, second generation DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) to the touch sensitive controls and high resolution display. What hasn’t changed is Cyrus’s dedication to the truest sound. The iconic, die-cast chassis also remains – a fan favourite that also enhances the sound quality.
Built-in DAC with USB, coaxial and optical inputs
Featuring a 2nd generation QXR DAC and five digital inputs, the Cyrus Pre-XR is the ideal way of upgrading all your digital sources at the same time as buying a new amplifier. Older or lower spec digital devices benefit greatly in terms of sound quality by using the high spec QXR DAC built into the Cyrus rather than their own. With twin optical and coaxial inputs, you can connect your network streamer, CD player, TV and games console. There’s also an asynchronous USB input. This lets you connect your PC or Mac and access stored or streaming music in high resolution – right up to 768 kHz file sample rate.
Tailor the digital sound to suit you
With seven different digital filter alignment options, you can tailor the sound to just the way you like it. Sharpen or smooth the sound, depending on your preferences and the matching components.
Superior turntable input
As well as four RCA line inputs, the Pre-XR also comes with a high quality MM (Moving Magnet) turntable input. This low-noise design lets you get the best sound from your deck, without needing to add an extra phono pre-amp.
Enhanced headphone output
Just like the turntable input, the headphone output is a top quality device in its own right – rivalling some standalone headphone amps. With your headphones plugged in, a dedicated amplifier draws exclusive power from the over-sized transformer, giving huge reserves of current. This means that even power-hungry headphones are driven efficiently, letting you hear your headphones to their full potential.
Studio grade XLR balanced outputs
For the best possible sound, the Pre-XR offers balanced XLR outputs. Compatible with the Stereo 200 and Mono X 300 power amps, XLRs deliver a studio-grade connection. Balanced cables offer better shielding and a more stable signal, especially over longer distances, letting you hear every detail that the Pre-XR is capable of.
PSU-XR port for the next step-up
As good as the Pre-XR is, it can be made better still by adding a PSU-XR power supply. Over the past three decades, Cyrus’s famous PSX power supplies have been a ‘must have’ upgrade, and the latest PSU-XR is no different. Adding a PSU-XR gives dedicated power to the Pre-XR’s analogue stages, which delivers even clearer, more spacious sound.
Enhanced Cyrus design
Now with a new Phantom Black finish and touch sensitive controls, the Pre-XR’s style is better than ever. The die-cast casing is extremely solid and strongly resists both electrical and mechanical interference from surrounding sources. Integrated heat sink vents also keep it cool in the most discreet and stylish fashion.
