The Onkyo TX-NR7100 provides the latest in video connectivity standards, THX-approved sound and cutting-edge room correction tech... and all for a superb value price.
DIRAC Live Room Correction for optimised performance
Thanks to built-in, state-of-the-art digital room correction from DIRAC, the TX-NR7100 goes above and beyond the norm. DIRAC live uses a USB microphone (not included) and dedicated PC software to take multiple readings around your room and feed the information back to the amplifier for a completely bespoke response (professional set-up recommended).
Be more immersed – 9.2 channel output
Upgrading from seven to nine channels introduces a whole new raft of speaker configurations – made all the better via DIRAC optimisation. Choose from a classic 5.2 surround plus two powered zones for entertainment in three rooms. For the best in Dolby Atmos or DTS:X, expand to four ceiling speakers, for scintillating 5.2.4 surround sound. Alternatively, stick with two ceiling speakers but add extra side speakers with a 7.2.2 configuration – the choice is yours.
THX Select2 Certification for effortless performance
Extensively tested, the Onkyo TX-NR7100 meets THX Select2 Certification. THX are a Californian company founded by George Lucas of Star Wars fame. To gain THX approval, products are bench tested to a rigorous level, covering every aspect of audio performance. Only a handful of products gain the THX certification, making it a true badge of honour for any home cinema product.
Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and DTS Neural:X for cinematic sound
Carrying on this Onkyo AVR’s cinematic appeal, it’s compatible with both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Both formats use ceiling or upward firing speakers to deliver an immersive, multi-dimensional sound. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X make an overhead aircraft sound frighteningly realistic or a tropical storm a drenching experience. DTS Neural:X upmixes non-DTS:X signals, giving you a similarly enveloping sound with other sources.
Get the Atmos or DTS:X effect, without the extra speakers
It's not always possible to accommodate Atmos or DTS:X height speakers, which is when Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X come in handy. Play any Dolby format and enjoy a more immersive sound with virtual height enhancement – using your existing speakers. DTS Virtual:X also creates a more enveloping sound from any DTS codec. Compatible with 2, 5.1 or 7.1 speaker configurations, DTS Virtual:X gives a greater impression of height and immersive sound.
Klipsch Optimise Mode
Unique to Onkyo, the TX-NR7100 sounds even better when partnered with Klipsch Reference and Reference Premiere speakers. Collaboration between the two companies has resulted in the implementation of precise crossover vales being incorporated into the Onkyo. This means that you get optimised sound quality, at the touch of a button.
Further enhanced 8K HDMI compatibility
Upgrading on other Onkyo receivers, the TX-NR7100 features 8K compatible across all six HDMI inputs and twin outputs (HDMI 2 output in Sub Mode only). They support 8K pass-through, 4K/120Hz and eARC, making them ideal for connecting an 8K TV, the latest games consoles and more. The receiver also supports the latest copy protection standard, HDCP 2.3.
Ideal for gamers
As well as suiting 8K TVs, the latest HDMI 2.1 interface also helps give your gaming a boost. This facilitates a range of features, including 4K/120Hz HDR pass-through for ultra-fast motion. VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) eliminates lag, stutter, and frame-tearing for fluid gameplay. ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) optimizes latency from source to screen and QFT (Quick Frame Transport) limits lag for a smoother experience. Put together, they give you a massive gaming advantage.
Highly capable music streamer
Much more than just an AV receiver, the TX-NR7100 is also a fully comprehensive music streamer. From Apple AirPlay 2 to Chromecast and taking in ‘Works with Sonos’, this Onkyo AVR has you covered. Direct access to Spotify (Premium account required for full features), Amazon Music HD, TIDAL, Deezer and TuneIn are all available via the Onkyo Control App. There’s even DTS Play-Fi for multi-room expansion, TuneIn for Internet radio and two-way Bluetooth for local music streaming and headphone listening.
Apple AirPlay 2 and Chromecast
Ideal for Apple users, AirPlay 2 takes this popular wireless streaming format and makes it better. Controllable by simply asking Siri or using your Apple device, AirPlay 2 lets you effortlessly stream music and podcasts around your home – and all in perfect sync. Chromecast lets you stream music, podcasts and audio apps, including Google Play, at the touch of a button.
Voice control
The Onkyo TX-NR7100 works seamlessly with your Smart Home ecosystem. Control via Siri when using Apple Airplay. Alternatively, connect to a suitable Smart speaker and the receiver then also works with Alexa and the Google Assistant.
Works with Sonos
‘Works with Sonos’ certification means that this Onkyo seamlessly integrates with your existing Sonos system. Once connected to a compatible Sonos product (Sonos Port), you can group the receiver with other Sonos devices or use it independently. Working with Sonos means as soon as you start playing music from your Sonos app, the Onkyo switches on and automatically selects the correct input.
DTS Play-Fi for effortless streaming and multi-room
DTS Play-Fi is a premium, wireless control system that brings everything under one 'roof'. Download the free app and you'll not only have access to Internet radio but also popular music apps such as Spotify, Tidal, Deezer and Napster. As well as bringing all your streaming sources together, Play-Fi offers the potential for full multi-room music. Simply add other Play-Fi compatible sources and you'll quickly be able to build up a comprehensive music system around your home - all under the control of a single app.
Connect it all - from USB device to turntable
When it comes to connecting all your music and AV sources, this Onkyo has everything covered – including your turntable (with Moving Magnet cartridge). As well as the turntable input there are six line level ones – ideal for a CD player, music streamer and other music sources. There are also digital coaxial and optical inputs plus a front-mounted USB for media playback. For older, legacy AV devices, the TX-NR7100 has composite and component inputs.
