Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and DTS Neural:X for cinematic sound
This Onkyo AVR is compatible with both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X*. Both formats use ceiling or upward firing speakers to deliver an immersive, multi-dimensional sound. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X make an overhead aircraft sound frighteningly realistic or a tropical storm a drenching experience. DTS Neural:X upmixes non-DTS:X signals, giving you a similarly enveloping sound with other sources.
*Note, up-firing speakers are used instead of rear speakers, creating a 3.2.2 channel system.
Get the Atmos or DTS:X effect, without the extra speakers
As this is a 5.2 channel AVR, it’s not possible to have both rear and Atmos/DTS:X effect speakers. If you’d like to use rear speakers then take advantage of the handy Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X settings for a sense of 3D sound, without the extra speakers. Play any Dolby format and enjoy a more immersive sound with virtual height enhancement – using your existing speakers. DTS Virtual:X also creates a more enveloping sound from any DTS codec.
Klipsch Optimise Mode
Unique to Onkyo, the TX-SR3100 sounds even better when partnered with Klipsch Reference and Reference Premiere speakers. Collaboration between the two companies has resulted in the implementation of precise crossover vales being incorporated into the Onkyo. This means that you get optimised sound quality, at the touch of a button.
8K compatible HDMI interface
For wide ranging connectivity, the TX-SR3100 has four HDMI inputs and an output for your TV. This lets you use the AVR as a hub, with your games console, Blu-ray player, TV set-top box and other device routed through it. What’s more, the interface is 8K compatible, making it ready for the next generation of TVs. For seamless video playback, it’s also compatible with Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HDCP2.3.

As well as suiting 8K TVs, the HDMI interface also helps give your gaming a boost. This facilitates a range of features, including 4K/120Hz pass-through for ultra-fast motion. VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) eliminates lag, stutter, and frame-tearing for fluid gameplay.
