Decouples the record from vibration
Made from a unique material mix, the Origin Live Platter Mat decouples the record from the platter, thereby isolating it from potential vibrations and bearing noise. This means that the sensitive cartridge is better able to ‘read’ the record’s groove, reducing distortion and creating a purer sound.
Absorbs resonance from the record
As well as isolating the record from the deck, the Platter Mat also absorbs resonance from the record itself. As the stylus vibrates within the record’s groove it causes resonance within the record that can feedback to the stylus. The result can be a blurring of the signal, meaning a loss of detail. By absorbing this resonance, the Platter Mat helps deliver a crisper and more focused sound.
Non-slip surface
As well as decoupling and absorbing properties, the Platter Mat has a high grip surface that prevents the record from slipping against it. If the record isn’t firmly ‘ in tune’ with the platter’s rotation, it can soften the sound, reducing the dynamic impact of some instruments.
Works with acrylic, metal, glass and composite platters
At just 1mm thick the Platter Mat replaces most other mats without the need to adjust the tonearm’s height. It also works well with all types of platter material, including acrylic, which can be hard to match.
