The REL Classic 98 combines traditional style and sound for the ideal vintage system subwoofer. The upright styling, chamfered edges and walnut finish hark back to the days of classic stereo sound and make the ideal match for many vintage and vintage-inspired speakers, while the components, although highly efficient, are tuned for a warmer, more traditional sound.
Heritage sound
With its 10 inch, pulp-on paper bass cone, the Classic 98 delivers exactly the deep, rich bass that you’d expect from a classic REL subwoofer. What’s new is the Class-D, 300 watt amplifier. This gives the subwoofer levels of depth, control and efficiency that simply wouldn’t be possible with an all-vintage design. With the ideal sonic balance, the deep, relaxing bass makes this subwoofer ideal for easy-going and atmospheric listening.
Suits a wide range of speakers
Featuring an adjustable crossover that covers frequencies from 30Hz to 120Hz, the Classic 98 pairs with a vast range of speakers. From vintage floorstanders at one end of the scale right up to classic miniatures at the other, this subwoofer adapts to suit them all.
Suits your stereo and AV system
If you use your subwoofer for both home cinema and hi-fi, the REL Classic 98 is ideal. Traditionally, the problem with using a sub with both home cinema and music systems is the difference in presence required. Whereas films often require the sub to be turned up for the greatest thrills, music demands a more subtle approach. With the REL Classic 98 you get separate level controls for stereo and LFE .1 surround. This means that you get the ideal levels for both hi-fi and AV, without the need to constantly change the settings.
Wireless capable*
Add the optional REL AirShip II or HT-Air MKII Wireless systems and make this REL wireless. REL’s wireless systems offer zero compression, wireless connection for the ultimate balance of sound quality and convenience. The AirShip II supports both High-Level connection and .1/LFE signals, making it the most comprehensively equipped.
